Joshua Meredith's
Personal Form
(as performed on November
5, 1997)
Under Purple Belt Curriculum
|
This is the first kata where students of the UKKD schools synthesize
what they know into a workable self-defense form. The criteria for the
form are five techniques and a minimum of fifteen basics (strikes, kicks,
or blocks.) It is often a linear form, meaning that it should generally
move towards 12 o'clock.
The Five Attackers
1. Right Step-Through Punch
2. Right Flank Shoulder Grab
3. Free Style
4. Right Front Thrust Kick
5. Two-Hand Rear Choke
1. Right Step-Through Punch
1. Step your left forward into a left neutral bow executing a double
inward block on the attacker's arm.
2. Shift into a left forward bow as you deliver a right hammerfist to the attacker's
floating ribs.
3. Shift back into a left neutral bow as you deliver a left back fist
to the attacker's nose or throat.
4. After that, execute a left knife-edge kick to your attacker's floating
ribs.
5. Settle into a left neutral bow.
2. Right Flank Shoulder Grab
1. With your right arm, loop it around the attacker's arm and execute an uppercut
punch, breaking their elbow and tearing their rotator cuff.
2. Step into a front crossover with your left foot , essentially stepping behind
the attacker.
3. Deliver a palm strike to their chest, knocking them over your leg.
4. Step into another front crossover, this one with the right foot in front,
on the attacker's groin.
5. Untwist delivering a front round kick to the fallen attacker's head.
6. Step into another front crossover with the right foot and step away.
3. Free Attack
1. Untwist from the front crossover with a left front snap kick to the attacker's
knee, settling briefly into a right neutral bow.
2. Execute a rear leg round kick to the midsection of the attacker,
landing forward in a left neutral bow.
3. Immediately throw up a rear leg outward crescent kick to the attacker's
head, landing in a left neutral bow.
4. Quickly now, execute a right front thrust kick.
5. As you land in a right neutral bow, execute an elbow sandwich on
the third attacker's head.
4. Right Front Thrust Kick
1. Execute a right downward block deflecting the kick.
2. Turn that downward block into an inward elbow to the attacker's
temple.
3. Step into a front crossover with your left and untwist executing a double
vertical punch (similar to an X-block) to the attacker's kidneys.
4. Execute a quick right knife-edge kick to the back of the attacker's
left knee, sending them to their knees. Land between their legs in a right
neutral bow towards 1:30.
5. Execute an elbow sandwich.
6. Bring your hands across their face, clawing their face as you pull
it in an opposite direction.
7. Execute a double palm strike between their shoulder blades, pushing
them down.
5. Two-Hand Rear Choke
1. Move your right leg into a rear crossover
2. Untwist using a right outward block to knock away the attacker's
arms and an inward elbow to their midsection.
3. From there, execute a right overhand claw to their face.
4. Immediately follow with a left backfist to the bridge of their nose
as you grab their right shoulder with your right hand. With that backfist,
grab the back of their head.
5. Pull their head down with your right hand to meet your rising left
knee.
6. Step into a rear crossover with the left leg.
7. Untwist, pulling the fifth attacker
through, delivering an inward overhead elbow to the back of their neck.
Pull to a horse stance and salute.
