Personal Kata
(as performed on April

|
This is the first kata where students of UKKD schools synthesize what
they know into a workable self-defense form. The criteria for the form
are five techniques and a minimum of fifteen basics (strikes, kicks, or
blocks.) It often is a linear form, meaning that it should generally move
towards 12 o'clock.
The Five Attackers
1. Right Step-Through Punch
2. Right Flank Shoulder Grab
3. Right Overhead Club (Front)
4. Rear Bear Hug (Arms Free)
5. Step-Through Right Front Kick
1. Right Step-Through Punch
1. Step back with right foot into a Zen stance facing 6 o'clock while
doing an outward parry with the right hand.
2. Then turn the parrying hand into a grab on your attackers' wrist
and execute a left forearm strike to the elbow while turning to a left
neutral bow facing 12
o'clock.
3. Pull attacker into you as you execute a left outward elbow to their
face.
4. Grab your attackers shirt with your left hand and drive your right
knee to strike the ribs/stomach.
5. Push attacker away.
6. You should still be standing in a left neutral bow facing 12 o'clock.
2. Right Flank Shoulder Grab
1. Turn your body so you are facing 6 o'clock as you circle your right
arm around the attackers left. You should be able to hurt/break the
elbow.
2. Execute a right knife-edge kick to your attacker's left knee.
3. Once your attacker is on the ground, step your left foot to 6 o'clock
as you execute a left inward elbow to attackers' head.
4. Finish by executing a left outward elbow, hitting the head again.
As you bring the elbow back, step to 6 o'clock with your right foot, into
a left neutral bow facing 12 o'clock, and toss your attacker aside.
3. Right Overhead Club (Front)
1. Step forward with right foot into a right neutral bow as you simultaneously
execute a left upward block and a right uppercut to your attacker's midsection.
2. Simultaneously slide your right hand up your attacker's body, grabbing
the throat/shoulder while turning your left hand to grab your attacker's
right wrist.
3. Execute a right knife-edge kick your attacker's right knee, knocking
him to the ground.
4. With your attacker on the ground, finish with a kick to the face/stomach/groin.
5. Once the kick is done, set your right foot down into a right neutral
bow facing 12 o'clock, and toss your attacker to the side.
4. Rear Bear Hug (Arms Free)
1. Step down with right foot moving into a deeper right neutral bow
while crashing your elbows down on attackers arms, loosing them up.
2. Grab your attacker's right wrist with your left hand while simultaneously
executing a left front cross over facing 6 o'clock and a right outward
elbow to the head.
3. Take your right hand and grab your attacker's right wrist, now both
hands are holding your attacker's right wrist.
4. Next, execute a left front cross over towards 6 o'clock while moving
your attacker's arm from your left side over to your right, then execute
a left outward over head elbow to the back.
5. Toss your attacker to the side. You are now in a left neutral
bow facing 6 o'clock.
5. Step-Through Right Front Kick
1. Simultaneously cover with your left foot and rotate your body to
12 o'clock while executing a reverse bow and a downward block to your attacker's
right leg.
2. Simultaneously execute a left front cross over to 12 o'clock and
a left inward elbow to attacker's head.
3. Execute a left outward elbow to your attacker's head.
4. At this time, the attacker has his back facing you. Grab your
attacker's shoulders with your hands and pull back executing a right knee
to the back and settling into a left neutral bow while holding onto his/her
shoulders. Next, slide your attacker onto your left thigh.
5. Finally, place your right hand under his/her chin and your left
hand on the back of their head. You then twist the neck either breaking
it or severely hurting the attacker.
6. Finish by throwing attacker to the side and settle into a meditative
horse stance facing 12 o'clock.
Pull to a horse stance and salute.
