I ordered the video because my curiosity was raised during a conversation on KenpoNet about some of the work that Mr. Whitson was doing.

When I got the tape I was impressed with the amount of information contained on the tape. Mr. Whitson appears to be a humble and skilled instructor. The tape mainly consists of pieces of a motion puzzle (what if my opponent blocks my counter to his attack?) that by the end of the tape can be put together in a freeform fashion. I feel the tape provides valuable information for drill use as well as how to effectively counter certain counterattacks.

Keeping in mind this is NOT how I train students to fight. We do not just try and counter for counter, but, that is not what this tape is meant to do. In my opinion, it is building muscle memory for other options to adjust your work when your counter move is blocked or ineffective, through a free flowing drill that teaches you different options or avenues to solve problems. This video based drill will allow you and your students to become less static in their stances and work their techniques in motion. I mean you can use this information as a method of free sparring.

The tape was produced in an easy to follow format. It was very easy to adapt it into class work. We now do Counterpoint work based on the tape several times a month.

I must admit that there were flaws on my original copy of the tape. I had problems with the video in a couple of places as well as audio in several spots. I contacted Mr. Whitson the day I received the tape by email. Mr. Whitson apologized and within 24 hrs Mr. Whitson had another tape on the way and asked me to return the first one. After I sent the original tape back to him he even reimbursed me immediately for the shipping and handling I paid. I am VERY happy with the second tape as well as the service I received from him.

Overall I would say that this tape is a MUST HAVE video for anyone who intends on taking their kenpo ability to a higher level.
