Martin Wheeler

Martin Wheeler is a native of England; he emigrated the United States in 1993. His training begins well before that though. At the age of 9, he began to study in Judo. At the age of 16 he began his training in Kenpo under Sean Cross in southern England. While there, he had the opportunity to work with people like Jackie McVicar, and Gary Ellis.

At the age fo 17, Mr. Wheeler and his long time friend and training partner, Mark Waldron, started working as bouncers in the street and bar fighting clubs of southern England. They both held this profession either in England or the United States for nearly ten years.

In the many situations Mr. Wheeler experienced, it gave him a unique approach to developing the art for the realities of self preservation needed in dangerous situations. This approach is strongly shown within his practical teaching methods.

Sine coming to the United States in 1993, Mr. Wheeler has has the opportunity to work with Mr. Richard "Huk" Planas, Mr. Frank Trejo, Mr. Lee Wedlake, Mr. Sean Kelley.

Mr. Wheeler has also studied Judo with Mr. Ed Keislich, Mr. John Wortley. He has studied Filipino systems under Mr. Al McLuckie and Mr. Planas. He has also recently began to study the Russian martial art, "The System" under former Russian Special Forces instructor, Vladimir Vasiliev.

Due to this, Mr. Wheeler has a very open approach to developing his art and incorporates many different concepts of fighting which become incorporated into his Kenpo.

Mr. Wheeler has recently released a video series on fighting devoting segments to weapons, techniques, grappling and groundwork, and much more. He is also looking to release a book in the future. The videos are available in the KenpoNet Mall.
