Rainer Schulte

Born in Germany at the outbreak of World War II, Mr. Rainer Schulte was sent to the United States at the age of 14. As a young adult, he joined the Merchant Marines and stayed with them until the age of 25. His introduction into the martial came at a bar one nght when he witnessed a confrontation between a larger attacker and a smaller defender. The defender defeated the attacker and when asked, said it was Karate.

Mr. Schulte then began searching for a karate school and wound up first stepping into a Tae Kwon Do school; the instructor showed him high flashy kicks that snapped when executed. Mr. Schulte walked out, not impressed. He ended up visiting the ed Parker's West Los Angeles school and was impressed by the class and instruction of Mr. Dan Inosanto. During his first week of training he met Mr. Ed Parker. It was this meeting that convinced Mr. Schulte that he wanted to do Kenpo for the rest of his life.

In Sept. 1970, Mr Schulte acheived the rank of black belt. Two years later, Mr. Schulte was offered a job with the U.S. Consulate in Germany dealing with antiterrorism. His fluency in German and martial arts skills made him perfect for the job. He worked undercover until he was too well known and then began training the security personnel. While in Germany, he also opened a Kenpo school and within months had hundreds of students. Since then, he has formed a company that creates martial arts gear, as well as a security company who has worked for Paul McCartney's World Tour 1989 among other events.

During that summer, he returned to Los Angeles and was promoted by Mr. Parker to a 6th Degree Black Belt. Since Mr. Parker's death, Mr. Schulte has vowed to never put on another stripe.
