Renée Neal


Ms. Renée Neal, is a 3rd Dan in American Kenpo, under Master Bob Liles. She began training in June of 1989, and is Head Instructor at Liles’ Karate. She is an 8 times IKC (Ed Parkers' International Karate Championships, Parker Era) Champion in Forms, Weapons, Self Defense and Fighting, as well as winning over 50 other awards on a national and local level. She began teaching karate for Master Liles in 1989. She has been fortunate and feels honored to have been allowed by Mr. Parker to stay during his private lessons to Master Liles, John Sepulveda, and Dian Tanaka on multiple occasions, as well as to attend numerous seminars given by the Grandmaster.

Since 1989, she has taught martial arts full time as well as continuously pursued her personal martial arts training, by regularly attending many weekend long American Kenpo Instructor Training Camps all over the US, including with GM Ed Parker, Brian Hawkins in LA, Brian Duffy in Texas, Tom Kelly in Kansas, and the Elliot Brothers in Hawaii. Also, she has continued her training with further Kenpo seminars from GM Parker, Master Mike Pick 10th, Master Frank Trejo 9th, John Sepulveda 9th, Ed Planas, Richard “Huk” Planas 10th, Paul Mills 9th, Sigung Steve LaBounty 9th, Dian Tanaka 7th, Jeff Speakman, Tommy Burks, and Skip Hankock. In other martial arts, she has attended seminars with: GM Ciriaco “Cacoy” Canete, Anthony Kleeman, Doce Pares; Zach Whitson, Pekiti-Tirsia Kali / knife; Steve Hearring, Chinese weapons; Caleb Hoshiyama, White Crane Kung Fu; Gurojoda Sing Khalsa, Yang Style Tai Chi; and Stan Yen, Tai Chi.

Ms. Neal has a long history of community involvement, giving health, fitness, and safety lectures, as well as martial arts demonstrations and self defense clinics, to schools, churches, women’s groups, and businesses. Currently, she teaches martial arts classes at Liles’ Karate, California State University Sacramento, Sierra College, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and California Family Fitness. In addition to teaching American Kenpo, she teaches Tai Chi and Qigong, Iyengar Yoga, Stress Management, Mat Pilates, Personal Training, Boxing, Cardio Kickboxing, Water Aerobics, various computer classes, and coaches Swimming and Water Polo.

She is also the Sierra College Martial Arts Club Faculty Advisor, and is responsible for the organization of the Sierra College Martial Arts Day and Child Safety Fair.
