Ron Sanchez



Mr. Ron Sanchez has over twenty-two years of municipal police experience that includes over 16 years in field assignments in a myriad of positions including but not limited to undercover, patrol, foot-beats, surveillance, detectives, gangs, homicide, Internal Affairs, stakeouts, and VIP protection. He is currently assigned as the Commanding Officer of a large Division that includes Vice, Homicide, Robbery, Rape, Sex Crimes, Crimes Against Children, Auto Theft, Gangs, Major Assault Crimes and Burglary investigations.

Mr. Sanchez has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Management and multiple professional certificates including the West Point Law Enforcement Leadership Program.

Mr. Sanchez has been an active martial arts student since 1971. He has studied several martial arts including Aiki-Jiu-Jitsu under Sensei Ken Penland, weapons (tonfa) under Sensei Tadashi Yamashita, TAI Karate under Mr. James Eliason and is currently continuing his long time study of American Kenpo Karate under Mr. Bob White.

Mr. Sanchez obtained his First Degree Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate from long time friend and instructor Mr. Bob White on February 23, 1978, and his Fourth Degree Black Belt, also from Mr. White in 1993. Mr. Sanchez also earned his First and Second Degree Black Belts under another long time friend and instructor, Mr. James Eliason in TAI Karate. Mr. Sanchez is currently studying Machado Jiu-Jitsu at the Tarzana Jiu-Jitsu Academy under Mr. John Jeaque Machado and Mr. Renato Magno.

Mr. Sanchez has competed in numerous martial arts competitions and has been a member of championship teams in the Long Beach Internationals, including the first place Senior Black Belt Champion Team in 1997. He has also been a team member of championship teams in the California State Karate Championships, the Four Season Championships, the Beverly Hills Pro-Am and the California Police Olympics in both fighting and forms competition.

Mr. Sanchez has presented a series of educational seminars across the Country in Urban Survival, Lethal Confrontations and Combat Mindset.

Mr. Sanchez is a former competitive pistol shooter and has earned rankings as a Distinguished Master in Practical Police Combat, Expert Classification in National Rifle Association Matches and Distinguished Expert by his agency. Mr. Sanchez is a National Rifle Association and FBI Certified Range Master, as well as having earned an Expert Ranking in the 250 Course at the prestigious Gun sight American Pistol Institute of Mr. Jeff Cooper in Chino Valley Arizona.

Mr. Sanchez was a driving force in two youth development programs for inner- city youths in South-Central Los Angeles and in the Hollywood Community. These programs serve over four hundred at-risk kids in variety of educational and athletic activities including literacy skills, academic tutoring, martial arts (Kenpo and Jiu-Jitsu) roller hockey, soccer, theater, boxing and gymnastics.

Mr. Sanchez was invited as a representative to the 1997 Presidential Summit on Youth Development. Mr. Sanchez attended the Summit with Mr. John Travolta, an active supporter of the Hollywood Education and Literacy Project, which Mr. Sanchez has worked with very closely in providing study skills to inner-city youths.

Mr. Sanchez has been featured and employed as a technical consultant in the entertainment industry in several films and television episodes including, Sword of Heaven, Los Angeles Crack Down, To Live or Die in L.A., Rampage and J.A.G. Mr. Sanchez recently served as a technical consultant and acted in scenes with Paul Newman in the movie Twilight.

Mr. Sanchez is also a licensed pilot and a certified open water SCUBA Diver. He is a member of several professional associations including the Latin American Law Enforcement Officers' Association, the Hispanic Law Enforcement Administrators' Association, a Life Member in the National Rifle Association, the Professional Association of Underwater Diving Instructors, an Advisory Member of the American Kenpo Karate Senior Council and the Screen Actors' Guild.
